Bachelors of Science in Business Administration

by Sharon Sanders
(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Distance education was the best thing that ever happened to me in that it enabled me complete an online Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree, and finding the University of Phoenix made a difference in the experience.

By me being an adult online student who had been out of school for over 25 years and working fulltime, I wanted the convenience of being able to go to school when it was convenient for me. I did not want to be out in the evening and be involved in the traditional way to attending college, which would have taken me a lot longer to complete. The classes were very rewarding and challenged me in every area of my life. Because the coursework was geared to real life business examples, it helped me in my workplace to solve many problems as well as be in the position to bring new ideas and creativity to the environment.

University of Phoenix provided a number of tools to make the learning experience easier. Some tools I used the most were the learning team toolkit, APA writing tools, and Excel learning tools. The professors (or facilitators as they were called) were very helpful and encouraging. They facilitated the classroom discussions in a way that made the courses more exciting and engaged us to think more creatively.

Everyone that I interacted with from the beginning to end; those such as financial advisors and academic advisors, were friendly and helpful and made the distance experience that much more rewarding. The most challenging part for me was the team approach, which had its ups and downs but helped me learn to be patient and understanding because everyone processes and does thing at a different rate. Additionally, working in the teams helped in my development because this aspect is used everyday in the working world.

I truly loved the distance learning experience and highly recommend it especially to full time working adults who have to balance family life, careers and school. This way of going to school makes your dreams a reality.
