Online Bachelors in IT
by Anonymous
I enrolled in the online bachelors IT degree plan at Kaplan when I was 53 years old. It was quite strange to go back to school, have to follow strict APA guidelines and set aside time for studying after being out of college since the late 1970's.
The professors are very bright, literate and work well with the students. They are also very understanding of our real life issues such as work, family and so forth. Young college students do not have these issues. However, they are by no means in the frame of mind to accept slackers. This is a very subtle but important difference. If you are perceived as a hard worker that has run into an issue with a true need and desire to study hard and get your degree, the advisors, deans and Professors really work with you.
Kaplan is also not a diploma mill. I have really enhanced my job as a system analyst with the courses I have taken during my 3 years and 6 semesters at Kaplan. They are a little pricey, but I have supplemented with scholarships that reward my high GPA.
The biggest problem is the lack of communication between the advisors, financial aid and the finance department. Fortunately, I have learned to work this system and get what I need.
All in all it is a very good school.
