Masters in Information Systems Management

by James Evans
(St. Louis, Mo)

I graduated from Keller in December 2007 with a Masters in Information Systems Management and a minor in E-Commerce. My cumulative GPA was 3.90 and my entire curriculum was done online.

Faculty
Most of the faculty was very committed and took the fact that "you are in graduate school" seriously. Areas such as reference citing had to be done in APA style; there was no option for MLA style. I did have a few instructors that "cut slack" because you had made it to grad school.

About Fellow Students
There were a lot of team based projects. Some of my teammates were already working in their fields; they were the "know-it-alls". Others were not; they didn't know what to do. You often had to pickup their work to ensure that the project was done on time and with quality. But, isn't it that way sometime in the real world?

Online Tools
We did a lot of video conferencing. The problem is that the video software didn't work a lot of the time. Sometimes there was no audio. Other times you could hear the instructor but could not respond. Many times, I had to wait until the file was uploaded to view.

Tips to fellow learners
Always download the entire schedule at the top of the week (which is Sunday) and begin reading early. At the first of the week you do introductions; you don't need to tell the instructor that you are a classmate that graduated with honors or something like that. The instructor will expect high results from you. Just introduce yourself and say that your look forward to learning from the instructor and the rest of the class.

Hope this helps those intending to join Keller Graduate School of Management.
