Online Bachelors in Human Services

by Dana
(Denver, Co)

I undertook the online bachelors of human services program at University of Phoenix and enjoyed it a great deal. The most important aspect of my time spent at UOP was the way that the entire program was aimed at my future career in human services.

Instructors gave a lot of information, and then asked us to create papers on aspects that interested us. They would then provide valuable feedback from real-world experience. In this way I learnt alot about the field I would be entering. The course work was all tailored to what I needed to learn, for example, the computer communication coursework focused on creating databases of client information and maintaining confidentiality for clients rather then topics that would have minimal use in my future career.

The field work I accomplished was also useful. UOP has a lot of contacts in the human services field, and have maintained these associations well, so I was able to find a good fit for what I wanted to do, and my instructor and the manager at my placement kept up good communications with me, so I feel I really benefited from this experience and was great to have it on my resume.

The only concern I had with the program was that there were not a lot of instructors for the courses. I had the same instructor for six different classes, and the same students in each one. I would have preferred a more diverse opinion base.
